The 2013 Mazer Cup International Home Mead Competition
Compete Against the Finest Meadmakers in the World
Competition: March 15 & 16, 2013
Entries: Open January 11, 2013
Close: March 1, 2013
Dear Fellow Home Meadmakers!
We are pleased to announce the 5th Annual Mazer Cup International Homel Mead Competition, to be held March 15-16, 2013, at the Boulder Outlook Hotel in Boulder, Colorado! This is a BJCP sanctioned event.
We hope you will enter your meads in the competition, and compete against some of the finest meadmakers in the world. Starting January 11, you can enter electronically on our website at http://www.mazercup.com.
The event will be conducted in much the same manner as last year's Mazer Cup home competition. In fact many of the folks who worked so hard to make last year's event the success that it was, are signed up to help to run this year's MCI. The judge pool will again be drawn from a cross-section of experienced meadmakers and judges, commercial producers, as well as other respected names in the mead industry. If you would like to attend and judge, please email Judge.Director@mazercup.com. We'd love to have you! If you would like to attend and volunteer, fill out the volunteer form on the website and join us!
We will again be having the awards party on Saturday evening, and will have much mead, food and snacks and good fellowship in abundance. Judges, volunteers and staff will raise a glass in honor of the winners and drink much mead!
We have all the information available for you. For more details on the categories available check out the style guidelines at http://mazercup.com/mch_bjcp.htm
Entries may be submitted online at http://www.mazercup.com. Please read the entry rules at http://mazercup.com/mch_enter.htm. You may use Paypal, a credit card, or check. You do not need to submit separate checks for each entry, one check for all is fine.
Entry paperwork and any checks/payment necessary are due by the entry deadline at the address listed at the beginning of this document. Payments must be received prior to the competition, or your entry will not be judged.
Entrants are responsible for categorization of their entries and providing all pertinent information requested on the entry form. The Mazer Cup is not responsible for mis-categorized mead and it cannot be changed once you enter, so double-check all your entries before you click send!
If the competition organizers determine that there are not enough entries in a given category (minimum 4) , the category will be collapsed into a closely related category.
Entries that fail to list the sweetness or carbonation levels will be judged relative to the defaults defined in the most current BJCP Style guidelines.
Mead must arrive at the mead shipping address by the entry deadline of March 1, 2013.
***NOTE: International entries : Please check shipping times to Colorado for your country and allow extra time for shipping and clearing US Customs. We suggest that labeling your package as 'yeast sample' may help it clear Customs faster.
